Hi, I’m Lewis Birrell. You may have heard my name through the book I released in 2023 – Well Worth a Mention.
By day, I work as a Content Designer in the public sector. I also do occasional freelance sports reporting/sub-editing shifts for the Daily Record and Sunday Mail.
The nature of my job means I get to write every day, which I love. But nothing compares to the enjoyment I get from researching and writing about my favourite football team – Motherwell FC.
It’s no secret, the national media don’t have the manpower to cover teams like Motherwell in the same detail as certain other clubs. But if the feedback I received from the book taught me anything, it’s that ‘Well fans are hungry for in-depth content about their team. So, I took matters into my own hands.
Story Behind the Steelmen is all about deep dive, in-depth, exclusive features on the players who pull on the claret and amber jersey every week.
- Monthly long-reads on Motherwell FC players, past and present.
- Exclusive quotes from players’ former managers, teammates and journalists.
- Broadsheet/The Athletic style coverage.
- Digital format.
